doula pic7rev2"Doula"~ a funny Greek term for someone who helps a mother-to-be.

I offer continuous and familiar labor support, at home and in hospital.  Statistics show this type of support is very beneficial to pregnant women and their babies.  My services are available to any woman who is pregnant, regardless of the type of delivery.  Whether medicated, non-medicated, natural, induced, or Cesarean and especially vaginal after Cesarean, I can help you create a more pleasurable birth experience.  Hiring me as your doula has many benefits, both physical and emotional.  Many women are unsure of what to expect during pregnancy and labor.  There are so many things to consider and choices to make.  I have received contemporary training in caring for a family, a newborn and especially a new mommy.  My goal is to help you develop a team, and impower you to ask questions, thereby ensuring an optimal birth experience.  During this precious time in your life, it is important to be confident in  your  ability to be a good mother.  I want to equip you and your partner in making well-informed decisions for your baby's well-being as well as your own.  It takes a comforting, loving and understanding person to take care of a new family.  Call me, and together we will make your birth experience memorable!

Questions that every pregnant woman should ask herself:

Is avoiding a cesarean important to me?

Would I like to labor without the use of pitocin or other artificial induction methods?

Could I use help in the success of breastfeeding my baby?

Would my partner need help in knowing how to make me more comfortable, and might my partner     need reassurance in the process?

Would having a one-on-one support person help me?

Would having a birth plan help me, and how do I make sure my wishes are met in non-emergency circumstances?

Consultations are FREE!

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you should call to find out more!

In Abilene, at least 32% of deliveries are done by cesarean section.  More than half of all deliveries are done by induction.  At both hospitals, you are encouraged to watch the epidural video.  Childbirth classes offer little help if you plan on trying to have your baby any other way.  If you would like to learn more about having an exceptional birth experience, please give me a call!
